PSG Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on 14 different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the match featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired twice late to take a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the final moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
