“That was regrettable. It was essentially an interaction with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones explained during a radio appearance. “There was a large group of Cowboys fans—not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was filled with enthusiasm for the Dallas team.”
He further clarified that the gesture was completely accidental, occurring amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I just showed the wrong digit,” he noted. “The action was accidentally done. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it accidental, you can. However, it got resolved rapidly.”
